Solar Shadow 3 was a tech demo created by AuroraDash that could do everything the original Cave Story and had most of the first area in it. It was developed as early as 25th May 2016 (and revealed to Cibryll as Kim Tyranto via PM) and was abandoned with information about it only being made public on 1st May 2021.
Plot[]
During the events of SS2, the Curse of the Castle Masters became unbound, and began corrupting people at random. In 2025, Valerie Horton got corrupted, which caused her to lose her mind. She began a one-woman crusade against the dark elves, who fought back in full force. This led to a devastating civil war which caused chaos all across Tirahnys.
Sometime later, Yes Town's high school was burned to the ground, which caused outrage among the humans and the deaths of some of Steve's friends. Shortly afterwards, Tirhanys government agents, loyal to (former?) president Mi'aro Genryutsukei, assassinated Terrah over his role in creating the curse in the first place. The remaining Hortons banded together to find a solution.
It is now 2029. The war was still ongoing, and Tirahnys was locked in a bitter stalemate against Valerie's Faction. The corruption caused by the curse was getting worse. Elsewhere, however, there was a locked facility, known as Archon City that contained a vault of secret Serenthian artifacts. One of these, an object known only as the Absolution of Meodus, would be used to remove the Curse of the Castle Masters forever which returned Valerie and everybody else corrupted back to normal.

- Originally, the events of Solar Shadow 2 would've led to the events of SS1 in 2024, but AuroraDash decided to get rid of SS1's story because he felt it didn't make much sense. The story was mostly kept the same aside from smaller details and the game's events taking place in 2029 instead of 2027 due to AuroraDash partially forgetting what his original plan was.
