List of Retcons

A retcon (retroactive continuity) is a change or addition which alters, ignores or contradicts previously established facts. While not every work of fiction uses retcons, some do and some do it better than others. The Lunar Shadow Project has engaging in retconning to varying degrees of effect.

However not everything that gets added in can be considered a retcon, which may confuse some due to the canon varying between games.

Retcons

Retcons to Lunar Shadow

• Ilina Horton is placed in a Brainwashing Capsule in the Myst Zone for two years. When AuroraDash pointed out that it would have been easier to place her in the Dark Armour, it was then changed by claiming that Ilina had the Untaint, conveniently making her immune to magical corruption.
• Despite Kim originally claiming that Lunar Soul was the first Castle Master, this was later retconned that Aidan Flamberge was the first (and only) Castle Master.

Retcons to Solar Shadow

• The canon ending of Solar Shadow 1 was changed from TRUTH (ending 1) to RAVE (ending 4), because it was decided that the story didn't make sense when combined with the more fleshed-out story of Solar Shadow 2.
• Shinova Armweak was changed from male to female in Solar Shadow 4.
• The canon character Quinton John Brady does not exist and was replaced with Terrah Horton in Solar Shadow 2.

Not Retcons

• Selenic Shadow doesn't retcon Selena Daria's character and expands upon it. In addition, the game itself is non-canon hence why Serenity Horton can fight Nemesis and Invidia without it contradicting Selenic Shadow. In addition Selena's appearance in Lunar Shadow is a reference to her appearance in Hope of Shane: Frost though Kim confirmed that LS Selena is different to HoS Selena.
• Sonia Routen's appearance in Apocalyptic Shadow can't be considered a retcon because she's a different character to her Apocalyptic Wind Tower counterpart.
• Mi'aro Genryutsukei is one of the biggest sources of confusion when it comes to retcons due to Kim's various different contradicting statements regarding the character. One of these statements has Kim contradict himself by claiming it to be one of Bloom Seymour's additions to the Lunar Shadow Project despite mentioning him in LSF's Tirahnys thread. It was confirmed that his alliance with Aidan Flamberge wasn't mentioned at all in Lunar Shadow due to an oversight; what doesn't help is that he's only ever mentioned in Myst Zone and Sea Zone, though the player is highly likely to miss this because the former requires Ilina to be alive and the latter requires you to defeat Cheriza du Blaze.

Ariana plugged this plot hole by claiming there was no faster way to brainwash Ilina.

Kim erroneously claims that Mi'aro was one of Bloom's many additions.

However, this is contradicted by the Tirahnys thread she made on the Lunar Shadow Forums on 31st January 2015.

It was confirmed on 25/07/20 that Mi'aro and Aidan's alliance wasn't shown due to an oversight.
