All mods in the Lunar Shadow Project, much like many mods in the Cave Story Modding Community may have a few bugs or two. While the games in the series are playable (and the big picture absolutely fine), there are always a few bugs or two that may ruin the experience. However, according to Kim some bugs in her mods are intentional, which only serves to make things more confusing.

Bugs

Bugs in Lunar Shadow

  • The first puzzle in the Reservior requires you to shoot a Rainbow Ikachan to disable a barrier. This sounds easy except that the Rainbow Ikachan bugs out once it moves to the top of it's area, forcing the player to leave the room and start again.
  • The boss fight with Azehr is the buggiest fight in the entire game. During the end of each of each phase, the floor gives way and the player falls into the next room; however, it's possible for the transition to fail and for poor Serenity to be stuck in the floor. When King (2.0) suggested to Kim that she could simply change Azehr to be similar to the Shori fight, she claimed that the two were incomparable, despite the two bosses transitioning into different rooms whenever they change form.
  • In Lunar Shadow v4a, there appears to be a nasty bug in Myst: Blood Garden (though it could be poor game design) If the player gets the password challenge wrong, then tries to exit and reload from their previous save, the game will tell you that the room has been sealed off, blocking off any further player progress. The only thing you can do, if you intend to continue is either to start anew or to use a Save Editor to move Serenity into the next area.
  • Another bug is that if you try to use Myst: Demise of Nexash's door to the Reservoir, and then try to return through that door, the game sends you to Servant Quarters RR and then prevents you from doing anything.
  • According to Kim herself, Shori's fourth phase is bugged as well. This is true because the player can cheese the fight by hiding in the lava which doesn't use Tile 62, used for lava and underwater spikes.
  • Another bug that appears in Myst Zone happens after you defeat Shiori Shauntal. When you try to progress, there's an invisible wall that stands in your way. However, it may be possible that

Bugs in Selenic Shadow

  • Selena Daria's final battle with Nemesis and Invidia was cut because Ariana Seymour (or rather Kim Tyranto) was unable to implement the battle without the mod crashing.

Fixed Bugs

  • Version 2 had a problem where some Life Capsules wouldn't heal the players. This was fixed later one.
  • The spikes in the Laboratory deal no damage to Serenity if she touches them.

Not Bugs, but Poor Design

  • Lunar Shadow v2's Laboratory had no sign for the invisible floors, which was later corrected. In the room, the player deals with a trap that deals 10 damage after defeating Sycor which may be seen as cheap by some.
  • The battle with Tia and Mat is hampered by the air vents in the battle. Rather than help Serenity, they merely hinder her and at worst tend to push her into them, which forces players to stay in the centre where they can only stay on the lift or hide under it. It also doesn't help that both sisters tend to deal 10 damage to Serenity if she touches them or their attacks connect.
  • The Warp Doors look exactly the same as the regular doors in the game, with only text to make them stand out. It would have been easy to make custom door sprites and logos on top so the player had a clear indication of each location.
  • The Wardrobes in Lunar Shadow use many identical looking doors when one door would be far more functional and better looking. As such, in LS, it can become difficult for players to find their ideal costume in the house due to all the doors. With one door, the game could simply have the player choose their costume (Yes) or move to the next one (No) until they've gone through all their costumes.
  • This same problem applies to the Sound Terminals, which uses a bunch of Terminals when one would do, or that ORGViewer could be used instead. When King (2.0) suggested to Kim that she use OrgViewer instead of making a Sound Test room, she claimed that she didn't know how to mod OrgView, even though she could change the music due to her mods using ORG files instead of OGG files.
  • Though Shori's fourth form has the interesting idea of using mulitple copies of the same boss, this is dampened by poor design. The room has lava at the sides which don't even work correctly. In addition, the multiple Igors are difficult to deal with because of the room layout and the one Rolling that only exists to make the fight harder than it needed to be.
